Five Useful Garden Room Ideas for the Winter Months

Your garden room is an addition to your home that can be used all year round. With heating, electricity, double glazing, insulation and even soundproofing, it will serve a purpose for you and your family in the winter as well as the summer. How you choose to use it is completely up to you but it can be very simple to alter its use from one season to another with a few quick changes. This is one of the great things about a building like this, it can alter as your needs do. Here we are going to look at some useful garden room ideas for the winter months that you could consider…

1. Home Cinema

A home cinema makes an ideal garden room idea for the winter; what’s better than getting your thick cosy pyjamas on, making a big bowl of popcorn, grabbing a large hot chocolate and snuggling down with the whole family for movie night? Alternatively, this could also make for an extremely romantic evening in with your other half. Candles, a rom com, blankets and wine. Bliss!

2. A Playroom

During the winter months, it’s easy to spend more time inside than out but that makes for some very restles children. Having a separate place for them to play, game, do arts and crafts can help with their mood, help with their focus and creativity with the added bonus for you being that your home will stay clean and tidy!

3. Home Pub

We’ve said goodbye to our gorgeous summer evenings on the patio with barbecues, chilled get-togethers with friends but that doesn’t necessarily all have to stop just because the weather has changed. Why not convert your garden room into a home pub? You could have a custom made bar built, serve up your favourite beers and cocktails, add a jukebox, pool table and darts board and bring all of the fun indoors.

4. Office

Are you still working from home? After lockdown, it really has become the new norm and many people are keeping home as their new workplace for the foreseeable. Homeworking has many benefits – no commute, flexible hours, home comforts – but it can also create some issues especially if others are also inside the home or you are lacking space. A garden room is an ideal place for a home office. It will provide privacy, quiet, an organised place for paperwork etc plus it will be perfectly warm and comfortable even during the winter months.

5. Gym

If you find the colder mornings and evenings a bit of a drag and can’t quite bring yourself to leave the comfort of your own home to get to the gym, why not bring the gym to you? A winter garden room will make the perfect alternative. You could choose to invest in the gym equipment you prefer, you could create a dance studio, you will be able to add your favourite tunes and cater this space for all of your exercise needs. Once you are done, it is just a very quick stroll back to the house to have your shower and relax.
