relaxing and recharging in an insulated garden room

Recharge Your Batteries in an Insulated Garden Room

An insulated garden room is the perfect place to disconnect from the world and grab a little ‘me’ time. In a world where it’s so easy to reach people, that the notifications never stop, and a work day lasts beyond your usual 9-5, time to yourself should be your biggest priority.

Powering down that busy brain, and giving your mind a chance to clear is important to both your mental and physical health. High stress levels can be bad for your heart, cause insomnia and even disrupt your gut! An insulated summer hour is a year-round haven that you can use specifically to hide from the world for an hour or two.

Use Your Insulated Garden Room as a Place to Clear Your Head

When your busy life catches up with you, you need a place to unwind. The best way to relax and recharge is to leave your worries at the door and clear your mind of any anxieties. A hectic schedule can soon leave even the most resilient of us feeling overwhelmed and the only way to avoid that happening is to get ahead of the game.

To remain unfazed by whatever life throws at you, you need to put some serious work into avoiding a build-up of stress.

Relaxing in an insulated garden room

Why an insulated garden room?

A garden room, rather than a room that is part of your house is a great place to relax. Not only does it remove you from the drudgery of everyday life (which could well get you down all on its own), it’s a place that you’re less likely to be disturbed.

The room needs to be insulated, because there is nothing relaxing about shivering in a cold room while icicles form on the end of your nose. Your garden room needs to be welcoming all year round, so insulation is key.

Whether you work, are a home-maker, a busy mum, a carer, or all of the above – your days are likely to be filled with tasks that need completing and a schedule that needs sticking to. This constant, conveyor belt of job-to-do can easily run away with itself if don’t take a break.

How to leave your worries at the door

Many successful people cite this stress-management technique as one of the things that helped them reach the top. The biggest challenge for lots of stressed adults is separating their home-life from everything else. The trouble is, when you’re still worrying about account acquisition on a Sunday afternoon at the beach with the kids, you don’t stand a chance of living your best life.

Some people like to shake off their worries and shut them inside their workplace as they’re locking up on a Friday night. Some people need to decompress on the commute home. Whatever you do, don’t let any work-related issues muscle their way into your home.

If you’re the type of person who has trouble shutting off their work brain for the weekend, then this technique may help. Grab a coffee, head straight for your insulated garden room and imagine physically unburdening yourself before you enter. Take some deep breaths, exhale through your nose, and imagine the worries you’ve been lugging around on your shoulders all week are bundled up in a huge backpack – then leave it the garden for the weekend.

Once you’re unburdened, spend half an hour alone in your garden room doing something like. Ask your family not to interrupt you, and revel in the peace of a solitary half hour.

What you choose to do in your garden summer house (and winter house!) is up to you. If it’s been a long time since you last had chance to unwind, try a listening to a podcast, bringing a cuppa and learning to knit. Or you could just hide and eat chocolate – the choice is yours!
